MY FIRST EASTER IDEA FOR YOU

HEY BLOGGIES,

Holidays always sneek up quickly on me and I don't get to make everything I want to before it comes and goes.  Does that ever happen to you?

Well, I thought since today is March first, I would share my FIRST Easter creation with you.

It is simple but cute, cute cute.

Punches and dies make this little darling card.  AND the Fringe Scissors too.  The card was made with the scallop circle die, leaving it hand over the edge of the fold just a little bit so the card is hinged on top.

The wings are also made from that die and I just cut four scallops off for each wing.  The eyes are circle punches,  The beak was fussy cut from a folded piece of card stock.  And the top knot is from the fringe scissors.

Hope you enjoyed this little cutie!!

See you again with another Easter Idea.

KIND KOALA CARD FOR SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY

HEY BLOGGIES,

How has your week been so far?  We FINALLY have a sunny, blue sky day.  It is not warm, but the sunshine and the blue sky is so wonderful I DON"T CARE.

We were outside most of the day yesterday with our two horses.  I was using the shedding curry brush to try to get some of their shedding winter hair off them.  They have been rubbing on the trees, on the fences and constantly seem to be itchy.  I know how it feels when I got for my haircut and a few pieces of hair get on my neck, so I knew I had to start getting that shedding hair off of them.

They enjoyed the "spa day treatment" as I call it when I groom them.  They love the attention and the brushing feels so good to them.  Oh My Goodness - I would stuff a large pillow with what I got off of them after just 10-15 minutes of brushing on each one.

Ok.  I would like to show you the SFF SKETCH we are using this week starting today:

And now here is my take on the sketch using KIND KOALA stamp:

This cute little koala is such a FUN STAMP.  It was an overcast day so the photo was very difficult to achieve.  Wish it was brighter for you to see how cute the card is for real.  I used the Secret Garden stamp set and matching dies for the leaves, using my BIG SHOT to die cut them out..  I used my  Wild Wasabi marker to create some shadowing, which didn't quite turn out as I had hoped it would.  But hopefully you get the idea of what I was trying to achieve.

The flower that the koala is holding was colored with the Blendabilities, as well as the koala's ears.  Then I used the yellow marker as a shadowing on the sentiments, and filled in YOU with midnight muse.  Isn't he just the cutest guy with his fun nose and sweet smile?  I LOVE this stamp!!

Hope you enjoyed this card.  And I hope you could see past the bad photography and imagine what it really looks like.

Thanks for stopping by.  Stop over to Sketch Frenzy Friday to see what my other design team members have created, won't you?

SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY -- WISHING FOR SPRING

HEY BLOGGIES,

My card today is showing you that I am WISHING FOR SPRING.  Flamingos are a tropical bird and I would love to be feeling the tropical heat and sunshine right now.  We aren't as bad as New England is for sure, but I am sick of the cold wet weather we are having in February.  My pasture is just one big mud pit for my horses.  With all the MUD on them they pretty much look like dirty little homeless beggars!!  Black mud up past their knees!!

Anyways, here is the sketch challenge for this week's SKETCH FRENZY FRIDAY:

And here is my take on the sketch.  For some reason, I just couldn't do only 3 flamingos.  I had to do four.  Oh well, four is my lucky number anyway so that's ok, right?

This is the charity set that Stampin' Up! donates a portion of the sale of this stamp set to the Ronald McDonald House each year.  It is called FLAMINGO LINGO.  These flamingos are so fun in different colors, aren't they?
A closeup so you can see their cute expressions.  I absolutely L.O.V.E. their knobby knees!!

This would classify as a Clean and Simple card I believe.  I used a mask so each flamingo could be real close to his "buddy" without stamping on top of him.

Thanks for visiting.

Ok, here we go with my cards:

This weekend starts the HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO and it is a BIG DEAL around these parts.  Whether your kids are showing their animals in the livestock show, or if you wanted to see all the animals, or you love the carnival rides or you mostly wanted to see the rodeo competition, you still get to see top recording artists performing.  It IS REALLY A BIG DEAL FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS.

Everyone dresses up in their western attire and people watching is definitely part of attending the show.  Today, I used the BOOTIFUL OCCASIONS stamp set.  Here is what the stamp set looks like:

I decided to do a card to go along with our RODEO THEME:

And here is my first card:

I used the Woodgrain Embossing folder and inked it up before pressing it with my BIG SHOT into my pool party card stock.

I like to cut my sentiment off of the main image stamp and use them as two different stamps.  That gives me more versatility in stamping.

I put some linen thread behind the circle punched boot.  I also put some dimensional glimmer on the stars on the boot.  Oh, and I used the light Coastal Cabana Blendability to color the bottom of my boot.

For my second card, I saw this idea on Pinterest from SUDSOL and fell in love with the idea:

\
The dress is made from a cupcake paper that I stamped with the KINDA ECLECTIC stamp set and melon mambo ink.  I used the sweetheart punch to punch out the bodice of the dress and some pompom trim for the belt.

The boots were stamped, colored with markers and then fussy cut out and attached with stampin dimensionals.  I added tiny pearls for some rodeo BLING on the boots.

I used the sentiment from Bootiful Occasions and punched it out with large oval punch, then layered with scalloped oval punch.

One more look at the full card:

I had fun creating this card and hope it gave you a chuckle!! (EVERYTHING is bigger in Texas!!)

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the blog candy!!

I am very pleased with this card.  I used the starburst from KINDA ECLECTIC as the light coming from the lightbulb.  Then I stamped and fussy cut a lightbulb, colored it with my markers and added Crystal Effects to make it shine like a glass bulb.  Sponging crushed curry around the card added that last little color that this card needed.

This closeup helps you see the shine from the Crystal Effects and how silky the new Hello Honey satin stitched ribbon is.  I love this new ribbon.

I used my small banner punch to punch out the YAY! that I stamped from this set.  And a circle punch was used to make the arched banner with the sentiment.  Hope you enjoyed this card.  Here is another one with the same stamp set:

I saw this idea using this Sale-a-Bration Set from an International stamper.  I changed it up a bit to make it my own.  I used smoky slate ink stamped off once for the stars and the light bulbs.  I used YOU BRIGHTEN MY DAY which is FREE with a $50 order during Sale-a-Bration.

I stamped on Vellum Card Stock with my CONGRATS and SO HAPPY FOR YOU from another Sale-a-Bration Set called SIMPLY WONDERFUL, WHICH YOU CAN ALSO GET FREE WITH A $50 ORDER!!

GLITTER QUEEN BLOG HOP - DAY ONE

HEY BLOGGIES,

THANKS so much for hopping with us on our three day "WISHING FOR SPRING" BLOG HOP.  Our leader, DAWN GRIFFITH, is starting our hop each day.  We are all linked into a circle so if you hop in the middle, no problem, just go to the next one from the NEXT button at the bottom and you will get to see us all.

Today I decided to use a set that has been one of my favorites for quite some time.  It is in our big Annual Catalog and is called KINDA ECLECTIC.  Maybe that is what I can use to describe myself - kinda eclectic.  No special style but a whole bunch of a lot of styles.  ha ha

Here is what the stamp set looks like if you don't already have it:

Kinda Eclectic Clear-Mount Stamp Set  item #135350  Price:  $19.95
Here is my first card I made with this set.  Hope you enjoy it:

I love the polka dot background stamp.   I am using it in a lot of my cards, not just the cards where I use the rest of this set.  It is a great versatile stamp.

I took this sideways photo so you could see I punched out a second stamped image of the middle area.  I just wanted to give it that dimension.  Then I die cut in black the word THANKS and added that on top of the punched out middle.  I added stampin' dimensionals behind the other part of the word so it all sticks up.

One more look at my card.  Sorry the flash made the white card stock look yellow.

Thanks for stopping by.
